Backstory
(Kamsi used as placeholder)
The people of Zamial have a centuries-old prophecy that one day, a great darkness will consume the land but on the day of Lunar syzygy, an influent astronomical event in which the 3 moons of Zamial align, a hero of the Thunder will be born and they are fated to save all of Zamial from annihilation. Fearful that the birth of the hero outside of the ruling class could spur the masses to rise up. The ruling, Xalmites, made it so every child the right age would be forcibly taken to be "purified" a procedure that no child has ever survived. Eliminating any chance of that happening as well as keeping the Zamian populous under control.
Abandoned as an infant Kamsi was taken in by a toolsmith and a tailor in one of the poorest districts in Zamial. The region Kamsi grew up in far away from the capital but like many others was subjugated under the power of the ruling class.
One day while Kamsi was on the outer edge of his village he was abducted by bandits and eventually bought by Xalmites that noticed he was the right age to have been born during the syzygy. He was sent to be purified and he survived, not only that the tumour of the triggering the lightning within him. It was evident that he was the child of prophecy. Despite how coopted the Zamian beliefs had been. Those who knew felt it blasphemous to still try and kill him. So Kamsi was hidden away where he was experimented on until his captor developed a way to siphon off his power and imbue it into another.
Character profile
He's in his twenties but despite his youth he has suffered a life time of pain. After what he's been through he struggles with his anxiety and self confidence. which is a far cry from the outgoing, mischievous kid he used to be. Over time, with the right support he learns to manage his anxiety and reclaim so of energy and expressiveness he used to have when he was younger. Outwardly he may come across as cold but deep down he has a strong need to rely on the people he knows he can trust, but this trust is extremely hard to earn. Likewise, others putting their in him means more to him than anything.
He was raised by his fathers to have a strong moral compass, to always try to do what's right and believe that everyone is capable of doing good. Although his life experiences have made it difficult to believe many of these things he was told growing up. He was also raised to also have adamant faith in the Zamial Prophecy as his parents were devout believers although religion was never something that he felt truly connected to. This makes his new found role as fable hero all the harder to digest.
He loves animals and as a child he would take in sick or injured strays to take care of. He has trouble interacting with other people now but his love for animals remains and he is much more comfortable in the company of animals. He also like to express himself through fashion; his appeal to clothing stems from his Father working as a tailor. Although they couldn't afford to make hi quality clothes, they would use the scrap material what would go to waste to create new wears for him in whatever he liked. He often thinks back fondly to the ling nights they would spend together stitching and crafting, filling the house with laughter and smiles.
